Song of the week

John Mark McMillan

‘Heart Bleeds’

My song this week is from John Mark McMillan’s new album, Economy.  It came out on Tuesday and is rising to the top of my list of favorite worship albums.  John Mark writes unique worship songs with lyrics that challenge our view of what worship really looks like.  Heart Bleeds is my favorite track off the album because it is a song mainly about the love of God and our heart’s response to it.  It is worship in a nutshell, a crazy, expressive, and often messy response to the immense love of our God.  With lyrics like “like fools in love, we’re bound to make a scene”, the song talks about how we should respond in worship.  We should “make a scene”, like David did when he danced before the Lord.  In response to love as big as God’s, our hearts bleed songs, words, actions.  Give it a listen and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
